What I wrote concluding my first semester:

My first semester papers, which are ample with flaws but also speckled with improvements, have taught me that although improving may be tedious, at least I’m given the chances to make a life-long progress. Perfection can never be attained because we possess too many blemishes, even in basic writing, but it is important to remember that there are aspects of writing that we also excel at, so it is not fair to never give credit to ourselves. One of the most important aspects of college writing that I learned is that the red markings and comments on my papers are gifts not discouragements.
